Ted Hoz from Lousiana in the USA, has collected 69,384 golf balls since the mid-eighties.
If the balls were set in a line side
by side, they would extend almost 3.2km.
The normal depth of the "dimples" on a ball is 0.3 millimeter... It is estimated that if they were only one tenth of this depth, the flight to "first bounce" would be halved.
The fastest golf drive on record is 120 mph by Gene Sarazen.
Since the U.S. Golf Association permits manufacturers to produce a golf ball with a top limit of 250' per second, this record is not an absolute.

The beauty of putting is that anyone can do it. It remains a very basic challenge that tests the skill of golfers, both serious and recreational, every day.
The search for the World’s Best Putter in Australia attracted golfers and non golfers alike because it is simple and exciting and does not exclude players on the basis of age, gender, golf handicap or experience. The event was structured to remove the barriers to entry normally associated with elite sporting contests. |
|
 |
Golf courses around Australia who registered their Club for the World’s Best Putter competition with our event partners, the PGA of Australia, were eligible to hold qualifying events throughout January and February 2008.
Members and Non Members were encouraged to enter. Participation was through the club’s normal competition rounds and/or via a unique 6 hole event played on the putting green.
